Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan has just pushed its way to the top of my favourite anime list. My only regret is not watching it sooner. It amazing and will quickly have you hooked. I always put of watching anime series and usually end up kicking myself after, because they turn out to be overwhelmingly good. I done this with Elfen Lied, Black Butler and Parasyte Maximum and they all turned out to be awesome and are now a few of my favourites.

Attack on Titan takes place in a post apocalypse world, filled with giant zombie like creatures, known as Titans. Normal Titans range in size from a few meters to about 15 meters in height, and are hell-bent on eating humans. The only thing that makes the Titan all the more terrifying, is that most of them have creepy deranged Joker smiles on their faces, while chasing and eating people.

The Titans hungry for eating humans, push mankind man to near extinction and mankind’s only hope is to live behind walls, that keeps the titans out. The people behind the walls are protected from titan attacks by a military, with soldiers I can only describe as being a cross between spider-man and Black Mamba from kill Bill.

Mankind survives behind the walls for 100 years, until one day a new type of bigger Titan (50meters+) that seems to have human level of intelligences, appears from nowhere and smashes a hole in the outer most wall. Titans rush in and storm the nearby villages. This leads to the main character’s (Eren) mother being eaten and killed by a Titan and the survivors of the attack being forced behind the inner walls.

The death of Eren mother, drives him to join the military and he vows to kill every last Titan. From here, Eren and his friends go on an action-packed adventure, to destroy all Titans and discover the secrets of these new types of Titan.

This anime is really exciting to watch and is full of plot twists, you don’t see coming. A lot of the characters have their own hidden agendas and there’s a lot of conspiring, which gives it a real GOT feel (as well as the death scenes). It literally has you watching on the edge of your seat and wanting more. The only thing I found wrong with this show, is that the characters look very alike, so was hard to keep track of who was killed and left me confused at times. But I enjoyed this series so much, I didn’t really mind being confused and just added to the excitement of the series.

I would highly recommend this anime series to both amine lovers and those who aren’t that into anime. It’s one of the best anime I’ve seen in a while and is definitely worth watching. I could see someone who usually doesn’t watch anime, thoroughly enjoying Attack on Titans too.

There’s currently a Season 2 of Attack on Titan, being released. I really hope it’s available to watch in the UK soon. I’m so excited and can’t wait to watch it.
