Little Doll

thumbnail_20180224_171812Don’t really know what to say in this post, other than I found a bunch of pencils I forgot I had and decided to draw a little picture of a doll with them.

thumbnail_20180224_200933Love finding random things I’ve forgotten about. It’s like a little hidden reward for spring cleaning. Anyway, hope you enjoy the drawing and if you’ve ever found random things while spring cleaning, feel free to tell me about it in the comments. I’d love to hear about it.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (Part 2)

thumbnail_c299d47c-f538-4f70-88a4-3114eb1a231eFinally, I’ve finished watching Part 2 of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I know, what the fudge? How can it take you that long to watch 13 episodes? Well, I was savouring it (Only joking, I’m watching a lot of other series and it takes a while to get around to them all).

So, what has happened since part one? Nothing much really, just a lot of plot building and butt whooping’s. Ed and Al are still looking for the Philosopher’s Stone and getting their butts kicked. Colonel Mustang, isn’t as smart as he thinks and got screwed over big time. A few people from Xing have showed up, to join the battle for the Philosopher’s Stone. We’ve learnt a lot more about King Bradley and the Homunculus and got a glimpse of their Papa. Envy is also ironically very ugly and Gluttony has given us all nightmares about being engulfed by a giant ass eyeball, with big pointy, pointy teeth. (That’s all I can say without spoiling it)

Now for the important part, after 26 episodes is this anime still entertaining. Strangely, it has managed to become even more so. It has really lightened up on the heavy depressing storyline and has gotten very interesting. There still are a few sad moments in part 2, but there’s also a lot more scheming and plotting and a couple more uncertainties thrown into the mix. As well as, more humour and funny animation, preventing the tragic and death-filled story getting too much.

In part 2, we do get a few answers to things and a few characters backstories. However, this leads to more mysteries and more questions. So, overall Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is starting to get very exciting and suspenseful.

thumbnail_db98f359-0b8e-42d3-9b70-aedd05239dd1At this stage, I can still only find a few nit-picky things wrong with Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. One being the change of opening. Again (Yui), was a great opening to have a little sing song and a boogie to (I know, I’m super cringey sometimes), but with the new opening (Hologram), I’m just not feeling it. It feels a little like elevator music. But sure, it’ll probably be changed again in part 3, so we’ll not get too caught up on that.

As good as part 1 and 2 was, I do have a few little concerns about part 3. These being, that the short jokes might start to get annoying and that some of its references might go a little too far (when it comes to history, I know almost nothing. Yet even I am starting to question some of its references).

Overall, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood part 2 was very exciting. It manages to satisfy your thirst for answer in part 1, while still remaining suspenseful and thicken its plot. To be honest after watching part 2, I like this anime even more and haven’t felt bored once watching it. I’m truly starting to understand the hype around this anime.

Predictions:
Surprisingly, I got two predictions right and one half right, last time.
We all might want to start getting the tinfoil hats ready and start looking for a nice cave to hide in, if I get more right. I hardly ever get plot predictions right, so there’ll have to be something seriously wrong with the universe, for that to happen.
Anyway, ignoring that worrying thought, here my new predictions:

Human Transmutation Predictions
-The city where central is, will turn out to be a giant Transmutation circle and everyone who live there will be human sacrifices.

– The creature made when preforming human transmutation, is actually that shadow thing/God called Truth, in Homunculus form. Truth is obviously a reflection of the person traveling through the portal, therefore the Homunculus produced will also reflect them. (Pretty sure at this point, that human transmutation doesn’t make anything human).

-As Ed has just open the portal and travelled through, this also means he’ll have made his own Homunculus (it’ll be a grumpy little Homunculus).

thumbnail_2b5f5f70-ea5d-4730-9b17-05af8ae3fa81Father of The Homunculus (Papa Humpy) Predictions
-Ed’s and Al’s father, is also father of the Homunculus or is somehow related to him. From the glimpses we get of Papa Humpy, he looks ridiculously similar to Ed’s and Al’s father.

-Papa Humpy is also not human, but is some type of unholy demon, super Homunculus or other being.

-Papa Humpy will take Al captive and use him a bargaining tool, to get Ed to do his bidding

Character Predictions
-Ling Yao’s backstory is a little too close, to the backstory of the evil guy from frozen. Therefore, I predict he will eventually turn evil. Ling seems to want the Philosopher’s Stone as much, as evil the guy in frozen wanted to be king. So, I really think he’d be willing to turn evil to get it.

-Scar, Ed, Al and the people from Xing, will all come together to make the ultimate Homunculus fighting force.

-Selim Bradley is giving me the pure creeps (getting a real Damien Omen vibe from that kid), so I predict he’ll follow in his adoptive father’s footsteps and become a sociopathic psychopath, too.

– Colonel Mustang, will be the one who kills King Bradley in the end.

– And the next characters to die will be, Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye, Ling Yao’s or Scar. Also, I definitely think Colonel Mustang isn’t making it to the end of this anime alive.

Also, I still stand be the following predictions made in part 1:
-Ed is not human, but is some other type of being that’s not yet been introduced to the plot. (Possibly the same as Papa Humpy)

– Scar will turn out, to not be as bad as he’s currently looking. Or will have some type of weird epiphany and want to help Ed and Alphonse.

– Ed’s and Alphonse’s Father, I foresee as being a Tywin Lannister type character or his absence was to protect his sons, in some way.

Ask Me Anything (The Answers)

thumbnail_34646afd-7f9c-4166-aa5e-0252c217718cAs promised in my last post, I have created a special little Q&A post, to say thanks to everyone that reads my blog and to celebrate a year of blogging.

This is the most excited, I’ve ever been about a post and to be honest, I wasn’t expecting to over 5 questions. So, getting over double that, was just incredible and I would like to say Thank you, to everyone who provided questions. All your questions were awesome and I really appreciate, you all taking part in this post. I’ve linked them all, in this post and would highly recommend checking their blogs out (They are all just so amazing).

So, without further ado, I give you Ask Me Anything:

1.What got you into drawing?
It’s hard to put my finger on what exactly got me into drawing, but strangely I think it was stress. I started doodling on my notebooks, as a way to relieve stress and it kind of got addictive. I moved on from doodle in notebooks, to drawing animals covered in decorative designs in a sketchbook and it all snowballed from there.

To add a little nostalgia to this post, I’ve used some of the drawings I’ve created and photos I’ve taken, in the past year.

2.What is something you would one day like to do with your blog but haven’t gotten around to yet?
A giant art collaboration. This is some very wishful thinking, but I’d love to rally a load of bloggers together, and create one hell of a digital art post.

Irina
3.Is there a post/piece you really like but that didn’t get many views?
Zombie 101. It didn’t get too many views, but creating that jokey little post, about how to survive a zombie apocalypse was a lot of fun.e94272cc-b7a3-426d-abd7-45a767129f2f

4.What is the weirdest/funniest/best search term to lead to your site?
The weirdest search term was “lucy.boo pic”. Haven’t got the slightest notion what this even means. All I know is someone was looking pictures of a Lucy.boo, which sounds like it might be something creepy and perverted.
The funniest term has to be “MAN BOOBS”. In capital letters and all. Someone must have really wanted to see some man boob, that day. Too bad my blog doesn’t have any man boobies. They must have been so disappointed.
The best search term (as in the most popular) is funny Irish insults. It comes up surprisingly often.

5.Do you believe in something that most people would say isn’t real? (like Santa, or dragons)
Without sounding crazy, I believe in aliens, other dimensions and sea monsters.
The universe is just too big, for there not to be another planet supporting life (doubt they fly around in space, kidnapping humans or even have the technology to do so).
Also, there is some very messed up looking creatures in the sea, so there’s bound to be a few that we could class as sea monsters.suun

6.If you could change how your blood looked, how would you make it look?
Bleeding rainbows, would be a lot more pleasant, so I’d make my blood rainbow coloured. Also, it be awesome if it glowed in the dark, too. It would be so much easier to tell, if I teared my ear cartilage piercings or got a nose bleed, when its dark.

7.Do you have any plans to use your drawing skills for any other media-like comics or animation?
As a bit of fun, I was thinking about creating a comic strip for this blog. But, I have no real big or brilliant plans, to enter into the comic book industry. I really like illustrating, though and would love to be able to do something with that someday.thumbnail_IMG-20171111-WA0002

8.What’s your favorite fruit?
Pineapple, when its slightly on the bitter side. It’s just so juicy and delicious.
But from experience, it’s not a good idea to try to eat a whole bitter pineapple, at once (even if you are a hungry, hungry student and too tired/broke to cook dinner). It makes your tongue and lips go numb, for hours after.

9.What’s your favorite thing to draw?
When Digital drawing, it’s those little stumpy chubby big-head characters. They’re so cute and really fun to draw, especially when turning movie monsters into one of these characters.
On paper, it would be pencil drawings. There’s just something really peaceful about making a pencil drawing.use

10.Do you have any advice for other people who are too scared to share their drawings?
If you’re extremely scared, try taking baby steps. Start with sharing your drawings with trusted friends and build your confidence from there.
If you’re feeling brave enough to share your drawings with the world. My advice would be, to try to find somewhere with supportive people, to share your drawings. In general, they’ll only make helpful comment on your work and not rip into it.
Also, remember to not be too critical of your own work (which can be really hard, at times) and to have fun.

11.Are you open for a Netflix Death Note 2?
Hell no! Sequels are usually worse than the first movie, so I fear to think about the monstrosity that would be Netflix Death Note 2.
In saying that, I did give the first Netflix Death Note, a fair review and reviewed it as something separate from the anime and manga. But as a fan of the anime, that movie was kind of painful to watch. There was just so much wrong with that movie and I doubt a sequel would be any different.thumbnail_20171020_134516

12.Are you willing to carve melons for halloween this year?
Bahahaha…. that ghost pumpkin really did look like a melon.
Well, it is melon season soon and carving a melon would be fun, so I’d be willing. You might not even have to wait until Halloween. I might not be able to contain me melon carving excitement until then.

So, this is the end of our Q & A session. I hope you have enjoyed this post. It has been incredibly fun to make and as always Thanks for reading.

Woohoo! We Are One

thumbnail_16c87587-abbb-4ec9-8ec7-c9a6767a629cAs you’ve probably guessed, I’ve found away around my little digital drawing situation (a busted wrist won’t stop me from drawing hehe) and can now illustrate posts as normal. Just in time too, because this month is the first blog-versary of this quirky little blog. When I first started this blog, I didn’t know if it would reach its first blog-versary, but it did and it’s been so great.

Why has it been great, you ask? Well, it’s really all down to you guys, of course. The community here on WordPress is so amazing. Everyone is just so supportive and kind (no one has ever been mean, about my super sh** drawing skills). We really do have something special here on WordPress. So, for this reason, I’d like to take the time to thank you all. Without you guys, I probably wouldn’t have stuck around this long.

thumbnail_5ae43eb8-748a-405b-85a9-9cd4e4d77922

Got you all a little flower, to say Thanks

To make this month a little bit special, I thought it would be nice to create a few posts marking the occasion. Starting with something, I’ve always been a little too afraid to do. An Ask Me Anything post, which will be a Q&A type post, where you guys get to ask me basically anything.

For this I’m going to need a little help from you guys, in the form of some Questions. So, if you could leave a question or 2 in the comments below, that would be awesome and I would very much appreciate it.

This post will be for you guys as a little thank you for supporting my blog. So, no question is too random or too weird. I’m pretty much leaving myself at your mercy and if I get enough questions, I’ll create this very special Q&A post, for all of you guys.

Thanks again for all of your support and I’m looking forward to your questions.

A Stroll in The Rose Garden

087603c5-0d09-4c76-8611-dbde8cdca204 (2)I kind of wanted to save this post for later in the month, back then life happened and made digital drawings a little bit trickier. But not to worry, I’m sure I can come up with something to overcome this little bump in the road. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy some paintings and pencil drawings.

For this post, I’m going to do another little painting process, starting with the pencil drawing.

thumbnail_20180130_150240So here it is, a pencil drawing of Malice Eleos (AKA, that guy who looks like Slender Man), taking a stroll in the Rose Garden, dressed like he’s joined a barbershop quartet. (In my defence, it’s hard to draw a faceless person and for their head, not to look slightly like Slender Man’s. Maybe I should have gave him hair.)

thumbnail_20180130_182310I’ve jumped straight to the finished paint work, because I was trying out Gouache paint for the first time and was experimenting with it, a little too much (translation, I made a mess, so had to fix it and I don’t think you would want to see my mess). My only other regret about this stage is, watering down the paint so much. If I used less water, the piece would be more vibrant.

thumbnail_20180131_173627And finally, the fine line work. It really does make a hell of a lot of difference and gives the piece a really nice finish.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this painting process post. Hopefully I’ll be back to digital drawing soon and will be able to create something for the weekend post.
As always, thanks for reading.

Silent Hill (2006)

thumbnail_8559fdf1-ae0c-4fd7-bae7-16a2433aa6f6Rewind back 10 years+ ago, where a young and daring 13-year-old me, thought to herself. “Hmm… I’m incredibly bored and no one else is awake. I know what would be fun. Watching horror movies in the dark by myself.” After sneaking downstairs like a ninja, quietly raiding the DVD cupboard and hightailing it back to my room, with my goodies (so not to get caught roaming the house at night). I decided Silent Hill would be the perfect movie for this little horror fest, I was holding in the darkness of my room.

Long story short, this was not a good idea and I scared the muffins out of myself, so bad that I couldn’t sleep. But, what does that have to do with this post? Well, it’s been over 10 years since I first seen this movie and I was curious to see, if it was still as scary as I found it back then. However, before I answer that, let me tell you a little about Silent Hill’s story.

The main character, Rose is worried sick about her adoptive daughter (Sharon), sleepwalking and having night terrors. The child’s dreams are being plagued by a town called Silent Hill, which leads Rose to think, that bringing Sharon to Silent Hill would rid her of the nightmares.

After making a dramatic entrance into Silent Hill, Rose and Sharon are separated. Rose searches the town frantically for her daughter, but soon realises there is something very wrong with this town. After experiencing, what happens when darkness falls and terrifyingly warped monsters come out to play, and after meeting the religious cult of witch hunters, that occupy the town. Will Rose ever find her daughter and will she learn the chilling secrets of Silent Hill?

Chibi Pyramid Head

All I can say is, “wow, horror movies sure have come a long way since 2006.” However, in saying that, Silent Hill still manages to be creepy as fudge, even if the monsters look incredibly fake and computerised. The acting is also bit monotone at times, particularly with the character Rose (it was like watching an emotionless robot, at points). Luckily, the storyline and its generally creepiness in enough to forgive the acting.

By today’s standards, Silent Hill is still a pretty good horror movie. It maintains a real eerie feel, that keeps you slightly on edge the whole way through the film. Even when the wallpaper isn’t peeling from the walls and there isn’t a horribly mutated and charred monster on the screen. But for me, the best thing about this film was the storyline. It really sucks you in and keeps you wandering, in suspense about what the fudge in going on in that town. As well as exploring some of darker things in society, like mob mentality, mass hysteria and the idea that people are more likely to partake in horrible inhuman acts, when in a group or/and they fear being shun for not partaking or for speaking out. This gives the story that real twisted feel, that can make horror so interesting to watch.

Overall, Silent Hill is one of the better horror movies, I have seen. Despite the acting being a bit dead at times, it still had a suspenseful storyline, with some depth. Silent Hill was also very eerie and its monsters, looked like they were straight out of a nightmare. Creating the real horror movie feel. I would definitely recommend Silent Hill to lovers of horror.

Rating: 3.5/5

To answer the question, I posed earlier. 10 years on, did Silent Hill still scare the muffins out of me?
Thankfully no, it just mildly creeped me out.
