Spreading the Cuteness

You might already have seen these cute pup pics on my Instagram, but for those who haven’t, prepare yourselves because I’m about to inject some adorableness into your day and spread cuteness across the blogosphere.

Okay you all ready? Great! Time to meet Oscar the cutest Miniature Jack Russell I’ve ever seen.thumbnail_20190916_113800

2 weeks ago, my brother got his children a puppy and I finally got some free time to go visit and meet the little guy.

thumbnail_IMG_20190920_191705_830When I said little, I really mean little. He’s just absolutely tiny, possibly the smallest pup I’ve ever seen. To give you an idea of how small, he’s smaller than my shoe, which is also kind of scary to think about because if you accidentally step on the poor pup, things wouldn’t be very good (sorry for the horrible visual. My brain has a terrible habit of thinking of the worst-case scenario).

thumbnail_IMG_20190920_191705_828Anyway, back to cuteness. As well as being adorable, Oscar is incredibly chilled. So much so that he took one hell of a dog-nap on me (I really love chilled dogs though, that sit beside you and relax with you so I didn’t mind).

thumbnail_IMG_20190920_191705_832Oscar just got up beside me and snugged in and fall asleep for over an hour like this. Which reminded me a lot of my dog (that died a few months ago). She loved to sleep on or near you. If she wasn’t sleeping with her head on your lap, she was sleeping at your feet or below your chair.

thumbnail_IMG_20190920_191705_829I really enjoyed visiting this wee guy. I was so tempted to bring him home with me, but I think my brother’s children would have something to say about that and probably kick my butt for even suggesting it. Hope you enjoyed the cute pics. Oscar’s only 14-weeks old, so I’ll probably have more cute photos of him as he grows and be able to spread some more puppy cuteness across the blogosphere.

As always, Thanks for reading!

A Sort of Belated B-Day Post

thumbnail_20190627_145209 (1)

I went to the beach for a b-day picnic and the sea was gone, so we spent the day splashing in tide pools.

This month is almost over so it might be a little late for this, but I’ve done a b-day post 2 years running and to don’t want to break habit. June is my birth month and usually I make a special little post to celebrate it, but this year time sort of slipped away. I was drawing a new chapter for the comic strip I Collab on over on Mangatoon (click here for a link to it) and wanted to get it finished and posted as soon as possible, which took up a lot of the free time I use for art and blogging. (If you’re following the comic strip-Finding My Own Way, a new chapter should be up on Mangatoon very soon).

Last year I made a “Silly Things That Life Just Wouldn’t Be the Same Without” list and wanted to keep that sort of personal post thing going. So, after searching the far corners of my brain for a post idea, I’ve decided make a “getting to know you” type post (after realising I never actually made a proper one for this blog) and share 10 facts about myself, so you all can know a little more about me. So, before I ramble on any further, I bring to you:

10 Facts About The Things I’ve Seen Blogger:

1: My name is Kelly. Thought I’d start with an easy one (10 in a big number and it might be hard to reach). Some of you might already know this but Kelly is my actual name and Nel is a nickname I use sometimes.

2: I’m a huge night owl. Night seems to be the time where I come alive the most. During the morning and day, I’m usually not very talkative and kind of slow moving like a sloth, but at night I spring to life, have a load of energy and can get very chatty.

3: Anime preference. When it comes to anime, I’m very much a grazer and like to take my time with a series. Genre wise, I like Shounen, adventure, psychological and horror anime more (any sort of anime that gets you to really think or is mind-boggling). With the exception of a few anime (like Hal, Little Witch Academia and The Garden of Words) I’m not very fussed in romance or cutesy pink fluffy anime (shoujo) (strangely though I do like otome games and romance manga).

afp-519400037-4_34: Celeb crushes. Most people have a wee soft spot for someone famous, which is pretty harmless. I have 2, they are Leonardo DiCaprio (I swear that man is increasing in handsomeness with age) and Min Yoongi (a.k.a Suga), he’s so unbelievably cute.
(It was too hard to choose just one pic of Suga!)

5: A huge secret of mine is that I hate the taste of potatoes. Out of context this seems like a weird secret to keep, but I live in Ireland and for some reason most people here have a strange emotional attachment to potatoes (I’ve witnessed grown adults cry over potatoes, which really doesn’t help the whole Irish stereotype thing). Admitting you don’t like potatoes to other Irish people is a huge no no and would lead to me having to go into hiding. Okay that’s a bit of an exaggeration that probably wouldn’t happen. If I didn’t eat the disgusting flavourless claggy mush that is potatoes, my family and friends would just assume I was seriously ill, had developed an eating disorder or food phobia or was on my death bed and would become really concerned and want to take me to see a doctor urgently. I don’t want to make them worry unnecessarily, so I just choke some potatoes down every day and act like I’m enjoying it. Also potatoes are a staple here and I can’t eat beard or pasta (I have a wheat and barley allergy), so without potatoes my diet would just consist of vegetables, eggs and the odd bit of meat or fish (oh and chocolate and coffee, can’t forget those) and that’s probably not enough to stop me dying from malnourishment. Anyway, enough potato talk and on to the next fact.

6: I might have a bit of a coffee addiction. When I don’t have coffee for over 12 hours, I get really bad migraines, start to feel sick and become incredibly moody. To be honest I suffered from migraines before I became a coffee drinker, so at this point I’m not sure if the migraines are because of coffee withdraw or if the coffee keeps the migraines at bay. Either way without coffee, I don’t feel too good.

7: I’m naturally very quiet. I go hours without talking sometimes or making any sort of sound. This can come off like I’m extremely shy or snobbish sometimes, which is only half true (sometimes I feel too uncomfortable or stressed out to talk in certain people’s presences, so don’t unless absolutely necessary), but most of the time it’s just because I’m content and don’t really have anything be say. It’s not that I’m unsocial, I can start up a conversation even with a stranger. It’s just that I prefer to listen and don’t mind silence, so go quiet a lot.

thumbnail_IMG_20190211_105557_154

8: I love drawing Pokémon. I love doodling in general but Pokémon, I find myself doodling them a hell of a lot. They’re just so cute and some of them look really cool. When I’m thinking really hard, more often than not, I’ll end up doodling a Pikachu, Oddish or snorlax in the margin of the page.

9: I’m learning Korean because reading subtitles makes me sleepy and learning Japanese was too hard. This is a bit of a compromise and bit to do with my fascination with writing systems. Anyway, reading subtitles makes me feel very sleepy, but I really like watching anime, J and K-dramas and films which creates a dilemma between watching the shows I like and falling asleep. So, to solve this I decided to try to learn Japanese to eliminate the need to read subtitles. Unfortunately, I found it very difficult and got really confused and lost with the reading systems, so tried learning Korean instead (which still isn’t easy but its more manageable). I can only understand about 10-20% of what is said in a K-drama or horror, but on the bright side I really enjoy learning Korean and writing really random things in hangul.

10:  I always laugh at dad jokes. There’s just nothing like a good old dad joke to lift the spirit and I am the type of person who will laugh at them, even if they’re not funny. The cheesier the joke the better. It’s more the irony and cringeyness of the joke that I laugh at, than the joke itself.

Hope you enjoyed this post, if you’d like to share a fact about yourself, feel free to do so in the comments below. I’d love to hear it.

As always Thanks for reading!

The Dark Lotus Company (Part 3)

img_0403It’s been quite a while since I posted part 1 and 2 of this little chibi style animated comic. Its probably about time I finished the episode and let you all know how it ends and if the detectives find Mr Flops. Part 2 left things on a bit of a cliff-hanger, so it’d be a bit mean not to finish it. You’ll be happy to know I’ve gotten the hang of the stop-motion a bit more, so was able to get the characters and objects to move a lot better than in the last videos.

In case you’ve missed part 1 and 2 and would like to watch them, I’ll post them both under part 3. Hope you enjoy!

Part 3:

Part 1:

Part 2:

Hope you enjoyed the episode. If people like these little chibi videos posts, I’ll try to make more episodes. Just keep in mind that they take a really long time to make, so there might be quite a gap between videos. There’ll a lot of fun to make though and sort of relaxing, so I’ll probably end up making another episode even if I don’t turn it into a video and post it.

As always Thanks for reading!

I started up a Ko-fi, unfortunately this old butt can’t work out how to put the Ko-fi button in a post. So, if you’d like to show your support for my artwork and blog by buying me a coffee. Which will provide the caffeine fuelled madness creativeness needed to produce such work, feel free to check out my Ko-fi page using this link: Ko-fi.com/thethingsiveseen

I’m Back

thumbnail_85e9e794-0e59-4276-ad93-d33c3b7a4d60A while ago, I had to go on an unexpected unannounced hiatus. Nothing big or shocking happened, it was just that a lot of things creeped up on me at once and things got extremely busy, so I didn’t have much time to blog. Thankfully things have calmed down a little now and I’m back. It feels so good to be blogging again, it felt like I lost a limb while on hiatus. Not creating blog posts or not having time to read others’ blogs, was so incredibly dull. It really is great to be blogging again.

So, what did I get up to while in hiding?

Well, I’ve got a little bit of news to share with you all. The Collab comic strip project I was doing with Anjani, is being posted over on MangaToon. So, I’ve been spending a lot of my art/drawing time working on it (which is so much fun). I really love making comics, even though my drawing skills still need a lot of improvement. Drawing really exaggerated faces is a hell of a lot of fun and can be very amusing at times. (If you have the MangaToon app and/or would like to check the comic out, it’s called Finding my own way.)

As well as the comic, I’ve been practicing more traditional art (and doodling a lot). I’ll include a few of the better things I’ve created to give you an idea of what I’ve been up to. Lately the doodling habit has reached a new level, I pretty much doodle on any piece of paper I get my hands on, which lead this creation.

thumbnail_img_20190502_170206_076.jpgIt started off as just a little doodle on the page, but I went doodle mad and got a little carried away. Before realising it, the page was completely covered in doodles. But in saying that, I like this big doodle.

I’ve also been messing experimenting with paint and trying out different techniques, so have created quite a few experimental and abstract pieces. I’ll show you a few examples of these pieces because there’s too many to put in one post.

thumbnail_20190408_211458

I gave him K-pop hair (those drops are red paint, in case you were getting scared)

thumbnail_20190413_164558

Abstract is actually kind of hard

Lastly soft pastels, I’ve finally worked out how to use them without nearly dying from breathing in the dust. So, I’ve been working hard to try to master soft pastels and after quite a few fails, eventually created something worth sharing.

thumbnail_20190425_181720So that us all caught up art wise, hope you enjoyed this little art update. I have a movie related post planned so hopefully that will be up soon too.

Glad to be back and as always thanks for reading!

Looking Back on A Year of Art

Hope you all had a lovely time over the holidays. For the first post of the year I thought I’d do something special and look back on some of my favourite art work from 2018. This time of year, a lot of bloggers do a best post list, favourite review list or a statistic post, so I decided to put my own wee twist on that and make a post looking back on my art for 2018.

So, without further ado, I give to you my 2018 favourite art work:

An accurate depiction of playing Sims

thumbnail_82616da9-b71c-4fe7-aabd-e5b46c9d1dc3If you’ve ever played sims, you’ll probably get what this little digital drawing is about. I made it for part of a devilish gaming post and it still brings a little smile to my face. It represents what eventually happens when you play sims and get a little bored. You become a bit of a sims sadist and explore all the creative ways you can torment your sims.

Not quite right Charmander

thumbnail_20180530_2300372018 seemed to be a year of drawing Pokémon, my 2018 sketch books are full of little Pokémon sketches. Back on point, this little drawing was part of an art style challenge where you had to draw yourself in different art styles. A not quite right Charmander holding a flower, sums me up well which is why I really like this piece.

Baby Batman

thumbnail_eb206f48-8f29-4846-b46a-583a33aba115Batman is awesome, so why not turn him into a chibi and name him baby batman. This was drawn for an award post and was part of the answer for a question about what superhero I would take to karaoke and what we would sing together. (We’d sing the Batman theme song. You can’t take Batman to karaoke and not sing it, that would just be crazy).

Yuri and Victor

IMG_0044Not the best thing I’ve drawn in 2018, but I like the feeling captured in this piece. Yuri on ice is an amazing and heart-warming anime and one of the best anime I watched in 2018. Which is probably another big reason I like this drawing.

Doodle Flower

thumbnail_20180614_141806Who would have known, painting a doodle of a flower would produce such good results. I really wasn’t expecting much to come of painting doodles, but surprisingly it turned out pretty good (literally thought it would be a complete mess).

Little Rabbit

thumbnail_20180404_173424In 2018 my art abilities took a huge leap; this piece shows that leap and is when I realised, I was starting to get better at painting. My art skills still have a long way to go but it’s nice to see improvement. Also, bunnies are cute.

Chimera

94c85aad-a778-45c9-95c8-f411abb1694e2And now we hit the dark art. This part of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is heart-breaking and really brings a tear to the eye. FMA: brotherhood is one of my favourite anime and best watch of 2018, so I had to pick something from that series of reviews. Out of all the digital art I created for that series this is the best one, chibi Armstrong was a very close second though.

Flower Face

thumbnail_20180912_223437This was actually a practice piece that somehow turned out better than all my non-practice pieces of faces. In this piece, I was just trying out a new technique for shading and it turned out to be a hell of a lot better than the technique I was using before.

White bird

44e9925a-3968-44d2-8400-8afa01465f0cValley of White birds was a beautiful little short film, which is what inspired this digital art. Out of all the digital art I created in 2018, this the best piece by far. There was a lot of time spent experimenting with different brushes during its creation, but it was worth it and is one of my favourite pieces.

Pokémon

thumbnail_20181128_211525The best darn Pokémon drawing I ever did, which is why it got top spot on this list. It was coloured using soft pastels which is an incredibly unforgiving, so the fact I didn’t make a complete mess of it makes me like this piece even more.

Hope you enjoyed this post, it’s been very nostalgic looking back on all the things I drew in the past year. I kept the comic strips out of this list to prevent the post becoming too long. However, they were one of the greatest things I did in 2018 and is the main reason my art improved so much this past year. It really challenged me to draw things I never would have tried drawing and pushed my ability.
Getting back on track, I hope you all the best in 2019 and…

As always, Thanks for reading!

Bonus:

IMG_0144I had way too much fun editing this photo of Dobby in Autodesk Sketchbook.

The Dreaded Lurgy Attacks

ciel 1Just a quick wee post to explain why there was no post from me this week. Unfortunately, the dreaded lurgy got me and now I’m rather ill with some type of flu-like sickness. I get sick kind of often, so would usually soldier on and create some type of little post for that week. But this week soldiering on really isn’t an option, feeling like a mangled zombie has greatly impaired my writing ability.

Reading blog posts makes me happy and helps me forget before feeling like the Grim reaper is stalking me. So, you’ll still see me around reading posts, however I’m not sure when I’ll be well enough to post properly. But, so this blog doesn’t go dead, I might make a post of the little doodles I did this week.

Anyway, hope you are all doing well and thanks for your patience.

The Silly Things That Life Just Wouldn’t Be the Same Without.

50486044-7085-416c-b7fc-3e836ad03ae3Another year has passed and I must again add 1 to my age and try to remember it. That’s right, it was my Birthday this month and to be honest I’m feeling rather old. I’m getting a little too close to 30, for my liking. But on the bright side, at least my hair hasn’t turned grey (Glob, has it had so many reasons to turn grey).

Last year I did a special bucket list post and I kind of wanted to keep the special B-day post thing going. So, I wrecked my brain for ideas and thought to myself, “what could I possibly write about. I can’t do a what I’ve learnt in over a quarter of a century post or an advice post. I’m still trying to work this world out.” Then something occurred to me.  Apart from things like family, having a roof over me head and food in my belly, it’s really the silly little things in life, that keeps me happy. Screw bags loads of money and a big house, if someone came and took away the silly little things, living would quickly become very miserable.

So, on that point I thought it would nice to share with you guys the silly things, that make me happy and that life wouldn’t be the same without.

1. The first cup of coffee of the day- Glob, words cannot express the incredible feeling of the first cup of coffee of the day. Maybe it’s just because I’m addicted to caffeine but fudge it’s a great feeling. It just makes facing the world seem that little less daunting and cures my serious case of morning grumpys and wanting the world to bugger off.

thumbnail_6c8fc79a-d866-4876-812d-29afa60b4a3d_1

One of my very early attempts of drawing a dog, digitally. I thought it would be cute to share it.

2. Dogs- I’m just going to say it; the world would be sh*te without dogs. They’re just these little happy creatures, that have this magical ability to instantly cheer people up. They don’t even have to try at it. By just being a dog and doing doggy things, they lift people’s mood and make them feel happy. Not to mention dog cuddles are the best.

3. Messing with paint- There’s just nothing more relaxing than messing and spreading paint around a page. I might not create anything I’d be willing to share on this blog or with anyone else, but the feeling of peace and contentment I get from it, is enough for me.

4. Anime- I’ve often thought of creating a post about why I love anime, but never got around to it. Anyway, the reason it’s made it onto my list is that without anime, I’d be an incredibly lost little soul. I know it’s silly (it’s made it onto a silly things list, so of course it’s silly), but anime is one of the very few things that can distract my catastrophizing brain and allow me to relax. When watching anime, I genuinely feel happy. I’d fall into the bottomless pit of misery without it.

5. Beautiful Anime Men and the Fan Art- Hmmm…. Yeah, the less said about this, the better. The personalities, the fan art, the otome games, the eye-candy, it’s all pretty amazing. I could possibly be that sort of anime fan but screw it, I’m only human.

9e9b520f-0e88-48e9-acf6-3daf91abd574

Nothing creepy going on here. Just an artist getting some well need practice in “anatomy” and a 27-year-old anime man, named Barnard putting his clothes on, to get ready for work.

6. Chocolate- In all seriousness, I don’t think I could cope without chocolate. It’s my little mood booster and without it, I probably would have died of sadness by now.

7. The armchair in front of the fire- It’s my safe zone. When I’m sitting in my armchair like a king, the world could go get sucked into a black-hole, for all I care. The fact it’s right next to the fire, just makes it all the sweeter.

8. Wandering Aimlessly Around the Woods- Spending a few hours (or a good part of the day), just walking in the silence of the woods, with only the odd sound of wildlife. With a dog or two for company/safety, not really caring where you’ll walking, too, is pretty darn relaxing and peaceful. Nothing clears your head like it.

9. Weird Stuff- Can’t get enough of the weird stuff. It’s just so fascinating. Weird animals, weird anime, movies, books, psychology and unusual people (the best type of people, in my opinion). There’s just so much that can be learnt from it. The world would be so very dull without weird stuff.fa28967c-967f-45ef-b9dc-9c0149c6dede10. Going for drives in the car- Okay, I’m beginning to see why my friend says, I’m like a wee lovable Likes going for walks, sitting by the fire, going in the car, likes having my hair pet (but pretends not too) and is easily excited. Yeah, that sounds like I’m a puppy alright. But hey at least I’m a lovable one. Besides I do all my best singing to the radio, in the car.

Thanks for reading the 10 silly things that life just wouldn’t be the same without. Hope you’ve enjoyed it and if you have any silly things that life wouldn’t be the same without, feel free to share them in the comments below.

I’m off now, to play frisbee and chase a cat.

Liebster Awards and So Much More (Part 3)

I took a wee break there from responding to award, to get the comic strip up and running. It’s up and running fine now, so time to get back on track with responding to them all. This time I’ve combined Liebster and Unique.

Liebster Award

img_5527I was nominated this time by the brilliant Moyatori. Thank you so much for the nomination. I very much appreciate it and think everyone should show Moyatori some love and go check out their blog.

Rules:

  • Share the link of the blogger who has shown love to you by nominating you
  • Answer the 11 questions
  • Nominate 11 bloggers for the same award in the spirit of sharing love and solidarity with our blogging family
  • Ask them 11 questions!

Questions and Answers:

  1. What’s something you do under stress?

I doodle comical little drawings (like a T-rex destroying a building with its teeny-tiny arms or stick people doing weird stuff), to make myself laugh and distract my brain for the stress. It actually works really well, I would highly recommend it to anyone that feels a little stressed out. So, much better than giving yourself an ulcer.

  1. What’s your opinion on abstract art?

I love abstract art. Any piece of art that can grab peoples’ attention and have them staring at it in wonder, for a prolonged space of time, is truly amazing. There’s just something fascinating and very intriguing about abstract art.  (I also love Surrealism and Expressionism, for those same reasons).

791efe99-de0d-4249-9e31-eed81885f5a0

My attempt at abstract art. I call it Trippe Don Pain Tcans.

     3. What’s your opinion on poetry?

Saying that I’m from the land of saints and scholars, I also think poetry is amazing. It’s like wizardry with words. It’s kind of incredible how a few words used in a particular way, can be so emotive and thought-provoking.

  1. Do you believe in long-distance online relationships?

Unlike the tooth fairy, the bogeyman and underpants gnomes, I’m pretty sure they exist. Whether they work, probably depends the people involved.

  1. Do you think you should have a deeper understanding of your best friend or your romantic partner?

Not sure if you’d really want my opinion on relationships. I’m pretty much an idiot, when it comes to those sorts of things and once thought a good solution to this problem, would be to make my best friend, my romantic partner. Yeah, no surprise there, that didn’t turn out too good.26ec05f2-3a6e-4fd4-8161-55dba0b1df8b

  1. Favourite season and why?

Summer because it occasionally stops raining, the place looks very pretty with all the flowers in bloom and it’s not as cold.

  1. Which ancient civilization is your favourite?

The Incas. As a civilisation it sounds brutal as fudge and surreal with all the human sacrifices and stuff. But Glob, is it fascinating to read about, especially pachacuti (mad bas****). If you’re wondering who pachacuti is, here’s a little song to help you out.

  1. When do you think the world will end, if ever?

When the sun pulls the earth too close, to it great fiery surface. Causing the seas to boil and the land to become a fiery inferno. Killing every living thing on this earth. Eventually, the sun will obliterate our moon and rid the earth of it’s ozone layer. Under the pressure of our great fiery star, the earth will break and crumble into billions of pieces. Which will then be incinerated by the sweltering touch of the sun.
The good news is, that’s not going to happen for about a few more billion years, so we can all relax and forget about it.

  1. What’s the scariest horror movie (or any type of horror fiction) trope?

Anything with clowns. Clowns are just plain terrifying, with their sinister smile, showy clothing, big floppy shoes and creepy demeanour. I hate clowns, so much. Horror movies like I.T, can go fudge themselves because I won’t be watching them.1dd165fa-bd00-41e5-be68-90024e0a81cd

  1. If you murder someone, how would you dispose of the body?

Wow, this has taken quite the dark turn.
I guess I would try to necromancy them back to life while crying like a b**ch, because it would kind solve two problems at once. Firstly, no one would be dead and secondly, there would be no body because it would be up and walking about.

  1. If you murder someone, how would you commit the murder?

I’d kill them with kindness. I’d make them so happy that their heart would explode with joy.

UNIQUE BLOGGER AWARD

unique-blogger-awardThe Fantastic The Spooky Red Head nominated me for this award. Thank you The Spooky Red Head, I appreciate you nominating me very much and also think everyone should show you some love by checking your blog out.

Rules:

1. Share the link of the blogger who has shown love to you by nominating you
2. Answer the questions
3. In the spirit of sharing love and solidarity with our blogging family, nominate 8-13 people for the same award
4. Ask them 3 questions

Questions and Answers:

  1. What’s that one song that you like, but you refuse to admit that you do like it to anyone?

Love questions like this, because they really get you thinking about how cringey you want to go. I’ll be kind this time and not go to a painful cringey level, by choosing the Pokémon theme song.
In my defence, this song is awesome to exercise to or do anything to. It just so Glob darn motivational. Definitely my go to montage music.

  1. If you could pick your own first name, what would you choose to call yourself?

Hmm…. this is a tough one. I’m not sure if any other name would suit me, but if I had to pick a name, I’d change it to my nickname, Nel or Nelly.

  1. Do you have a favourite quote?

I have loads of favourite quotes, but my favourite Irish quote is:
“Níl sa saol seo ach ceo, is ní bheimid beo, ach seal beag gearr.”
– The Secret of Kells

Translation: “There is nothing in this life but mist and we will only be alive, but for a short time”. Or- “This life is only a mist, and we will live, but a little short time”. Either translation is acceptable.
It doesn’t translate that well, but when spoke in Irish it sounds a lot sweeter and more beautiful. It’s basically the Irish version of life’s too short to be worrying about silly things, what happens, happens.

Nomination:
I still have a handful more of awards to respond to, so I’m going to leave nominations until I get to the end.

Hope you enjoyed this post and as always Thanks for reading.

Liebster Award and So Much More

thumbnail_2df22584-b345-4881-9653-2e71ab22b5d0Being busy these last few months, I sort of accidentally let awards pile up. A big oops on my behalf. I didn’t realise it was nearing to double figures, until I checked and seen the long list of awards, I was meaning to respond to. As a small blog, I feel rather bad about that, therefore I’d like to apologise to anyone who nominated me, for taken ages to respond.

To make up for this huge oversight, I’m going to create a few award posts (maybe one a week), responding to Awards. So, without further delay, I’m going to dive right and start making some award posts.

Liebster Award

img_5527(I’ve been nominated a few times for the Liebster Awards, but since it’s sort of long, I’ll respond to them one at a time to keep post short.)

First things first, I’d like to thank Ami Cyberspace for the nomination. Ami also creates art on her blog. I personally love Ami’s work (especially her Jack Frost, it’s my favourite). She has a lot of talent and makes some very cute pieces, so I highly recommend everyone check her blog out.

Rules:

  • Acknowledge the blogger who nominated your blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions.
  • Nominate 11 other new bloggers for encouraging them
  • Ask them 11 questions
  • Let them know you have nominated them.

Questions and Answers:

1.What is the one thing you wish people knew about you?

Hmm, that’s a tough one. To be honest, I really can’t think of anything I’d want people knowing about me.
Maybe that I’m an awkward old soul, but that’s pretty obvious after spending 5 minutes with me (Glob, my awkwardness even bleeds through in that answer).

2.Would you rather be a werewolf or a vampire?

Definitely a vampire. All that hair would be a nightmare as a werewolf. Just imagine the state of the shower drain, if you were covered head to toe in long thick fur. Not to mention, you’d shed all over your furniture and be forever vacuuming it up. There wouldn’t be much time for fun werewolf stuff.

3.What’s your lucky number and why?

The number 2 because good things comes in pairs.

4.What is/was your worst school subject?

I didn’t really have a worse subject. I loved learning, so liked all my subjects regardless of how good I was at them.
However, one thing I didn’t like about my school days, was some of the teachers. Quite frankly, some of them would have been better suited to a career as a prison warden or Drill Sergeant.
Sometimes they would suddenly explode for no reason at all. Even if you were a good student, behaving yourself, keeping your head down, doing your work and getting top grades, they would find some reason (usually a ridiculous one) to eat the face of you, bursting your eardrums the process. It would make you afraid to breathe and even move at times.thumbnail_da165728-a418-42b3-8e4d-05a2b349d534

5.Favourite candy? YUMM

Most definitely Chocolate, I couldn’t live without it. Cadbury, Green & Black’s and Kinder would be my favourites (I couldn’t choose one favourite. I love them all and they all so tasty in different ways, it would be unfair to compare them).

6.What pets do you plan on having in the future?

A raven, called Mogi. I’d teach it to talk (like a parrot) and let it live by my front door, to creep out nuisance callers.

7.If you were a superhero, what powers would you like to have?

Invisibility. It would make fighting villains, so much easier. I could just become invisible, walk up behind a villain and handcuff them or follow them home, wait until they fell asleep and tie them up.

8.Favourite youtuber?

YouTube has changed a lot in the past year or so. I don’t really have a favourite YouTuber anymore. I mostly use it now to watch music videos and get my daily recommended dose of cuteness. Speaking of which, here some kitty cat assassins to help everyone else reach their daily recommend dose of cuteness.

9.What element would you like to be able to control?

Air. It’s my birth element so I’ll stay true to it.

10.One thing you would want to change with humanity?

Greed hands down. I’d replace it with wanting to care for others, less fortunate.

11.How did you create the name of your blog?

It’s kind of silly, but the name “The Things I’ve Seen” refers to reviewing things and also the first piece of advice you get when learning to draw (which is draw what you see). So, the name sums up the blog. I review the things I’ve seen and I draw the things I’ve seen. (I’m definitely not a poet or master of words)

Blogger Recognition Award

I was nominated for this by Jenn, therefore I’d like to thank Jenn for the nomination.
Jenn blogs about anime and anime related subjects. It’s really interesting and a joy to read, so I would also highly recommend checking Jenn’s blog out.

Rules:
1.Say thanks to who nominated you and leave a link back to that persons blog.
2.Give the story or history of your blog.
3.Give two or more pieces of advice for new bloggers.
4.Nominate 10 other bloggers and link their blogs.

 Blog History
My blog is only over a year old, so it doesn’t really have that great of history. However, I suppose blog history includes its creation story, so I’ll talk about that.
Just before I created this blog, I had to move from living near the city, back to the countryside. Although, I much prefer living back in the slow pace countryside (where there’s more cows and sheep than you can shake a stick at), I found myself very bored. So, I decided to create a fun little blog.
First, I created a blog on Blogger, but I didn’t like it over there, so that blog didn’t last long. Then I came across WordPress and created this blog. Now I’ve been blogging here for just over a year and have no plans on stopping.

Two pieces of advice for new bloggers.
For this I thought it would be nice to give one piece of advice for blogging in general and one piece for art type blogging.

In General:
Be patient. When you first start a blog, it might seem like no one’s reads your posts. It can awhile for a blog to really find its feet. In the meantime, explore other blogs. It just makes blogging so much more fun.

thumbnail_88ae50fb-5750-44c8-a876-98dc28669462Art Type Blogging:
Learn to love and have confidence in your lines. That might sound silly, but I really wish someone would have told me about the trappings of line paranoia, when I first started drawing. I wasted so much time drawing and redrawing lines, trying to make every line perfect. It never really improved my drawing skills, though. Probably because when you’re in the habit of messing around with your line, you never really learn to draw them the way you intended the first time around and don’t gain confidence in your ability (apologies for the self-reflection).
Anyway, what I’m trying to say is a little bit of confidence in your drawing, goes a long way in improving your art.

Nomination:
Since I plan on making a few of these posts, I’m going to leave nominations until the last one. Hope you enjoyed this post and if everything goes well, hopefully I’ll be able to respond to more awards next week.

And as always Thanks for reading

Ask Me Anything (The Answers)

thumbnail_34646afd-7f9c-4166-aa5e-0252c217718cAs promised in my last post, I have created a special little Q&A post, to say thanks to everyone that reads my blog and to celebrate a year of blogging.

This is the most excited, I’ve ever been about a post and to be honest, I wasn’t expecting to over 5 questions. So, getting over double that, was just incredible and I would like to say Thank you, to everyone who provided questions. All your questions were awesome and I really appreciate, you all taking part in this post. I’ve linked them all, in this post and would highly recommend checking their blogs out (They are all just so amazing).

So, without further ado, I give you Ask Me Anything:

1.What got you into drawing?
It’s hard to put my finger on what exactly got me into drawing, but strangely I think it was stress. I started doodling on my notebooks, as a way to relieve stress and it kind of got addictive. I moved on from doodle in notebooks, to drawing animals covered in decorative designs in a sketchbook and it all snowballed from there.

To add a little nostalgia to this post, I’ve used some of the drawings I’ve created and photos I’ve taken, in the past year.

2.What is something you would one day like to do with your blog but haven’t gotten around to yet?
A giant art collaboration. This is some very wishful thinking, but I’d love to rally a load of bloggers together, and create one hell of a digital art post.

Irina
3.Is there a post/piece you really like but that didn’t get many views?
Zombie 101. It didn’t get too many views, but creating that jokey little post, about how to survive a zombie apocalypse was a lot of fun.e94272cc-b7a3-426d-abd7-45a767129f2f

4.What is the weirdest/funniest/best search term to lead to your site?
The weirdest search term was “lucy.boo pic”. Haven’t got the slightest notion what this even means. All I know is someone was looking pictures of a Lucy.boo, which sounds like it might be something creepy and perverted.
The funniest term has to be “MAN BOOBS”. In capital letters and all. Someone must have really wanted to see some man boob, that day. Too bad my blog doesn’t have any man boobies. They must have been so disappointed.
The best search term (as in the most popular) is funny Irish insults. It comes up surprisingly often.

5.Do you believe in something that most people would say isn’t real? (like Santa, or dragons)
Without sounding crazy, I believe in aliens, other dimensions and sea monsters.
The universe is just too big, for there not to be another planet supporting life (doubt they fly around in space, kidnapping humans or even have the technology to do so).
Also, there is some very messed up looking creatures in the sea, so there’s bound to be a few that we could class as sea monsters.suun

6.If you could change how your blood looked, how would you make it look?
Bleeding rainbows, would be a lot more pleasant, so I’d make my blood rainbow coloured. Also, it be awesome if it glowed in the dark, too. It would be so much easier to tell, if I teared my ear cartilage piercings or got a nose bleed, when its dark.

7.Do you have any plans to use your drawing skills for any other media-like comics or animation?
As a bit of fun, I was thinking about creating a comic strip for this blog. But, I have no real big or brilliant plans, to enter into the comic book industry. I really like illustrating, though and would love to be able to do something with that someday.thumbnail_IMG-20171111-WA0002

8.What’s your favorite fruit?
Pineapple, when its slightly on the bitter side. It’s just so juicy and delicious.
But from experience, it’s not a good idea to try to eat a whole bitter pineapple, at once (even if you are a hungry, hungry student and too tired/broke to cook dinner). It makes your tongue and lips go numb, for hours after.

9.What’s your favorite thing to draw?
When Digital drawing, it’s those little stumpy chubby big-head characters. They’re so cute and really fun to draw, especially when turning movie monsters into one of these characters.
On paper, it would be pencil drawings. There’s just something really peaceful about making a pencil drawing.use

10.Do you have any advice for other people who are too scared to share their drawings?
If you’re extremely scared, try taking baby steps. Start with sharing your drawings with trusted friends and build your confidence from there.
If you’re feeling brave enough to share your drawings with the world. My advice would be, to try to find somewhere with supportive people, to share your drawings. In general, they’ll only make helpful comment on your work and not rip into it.
Also, remember to not be too critical of your own work (which can be really hard, at times) and to have fun.

11.Are you open for a Netflix Death Note 2?
Hell no! Sequels are usually worse than the first movie, so I fear to think about the monstrosity that would be Netflix Death Note 2.
In saying that, I did give the first Netflix Death Note, a fair review and reviewed it as something separate from the anime and manga. But as a fan of the anime, that movie was kind of painful to watch. There was just so much wrong with that movie and I doubt a sequel would be any different.thumbnail_20171020_134516

12.Are you willing to carve melons for halloween this year?
Bahahaha…. that ghost pumpkin really did look like a melon.
Well, it is melon season soon and carving a melon would be fun, so I’d be willing. You might not even have to wait until Halloween. I might not be able to contain me melon carving excitement until then.

So, this is the end of our Q & A session. I hope you have enjoyed this post. It has been incredibly fun to make and as always Thanks for reading.
